Description
A very unique and one of a kind treasure: A dried and framed Lady of the snows aka Arctic violet plant with a picking date of May 26th, 1920.
Literally 102 years old and still looking fabulous.
On the tag we can read (in Finnish):
Latin name: Pulsatilla vernális
Finnish name: Kangasvuokko
Growing area: Ta.
Growing place: Kangas
26/5 1920
Picker: Karin Lappi
The frame is metal, measures: 30 by 21.5cm / 11.8 by 8.46in.
Background paper in the frame shows signs of age and is charmingly discolored.
(Ta. as in area is most likely short for Tampere area and Kangas is todays city of Kangasala)
A nice piece of history and an awesome botanical curiosity.
P.S The line running over the photo is not a crack in the glass, looks like some hiccup while taking the pic. The glass and frame are wholesome.
No flaws other than general aging.
